About False Positive Testing
Our antivirus false positive testing is designed to identify instances where legitimate applications or system files are mistakenly flagged as malicious by security products. This ongoing testing helps improve accuracy and reduce the risk of unnecessary disruptions for end users.

Currently, our test set includes some of the most commonly found applications installed on Windows home endpoints, along with operating system files, to simulate real-world environments. Testing may be performed multiple times per day, ensuring timely detection of false positives, and across single or multiple versions of a solution.

We are actively expanding our test set to include additional applications in the near future. If you are a software developer or AV vendor and would like your security solution or genuine application to be included in our test set, we invite you to reach out at info@westcoastlabs.com
Included Files
Each of the applications included within the False Positive test set is updated to reflect the most recent publicly available version.
Additional/optional components are not included unless they form part of the installation routine. In particular, the Steam desktop application does not include game files.
Additional applications will be made available as they are added to the FPEDS system.
