The West Coast Labs Performance Validated scheme is designed to provide an in-depth evaluation of the core technology and functionality provided by the tested solution. The Performance Validation testing expands on the headline statistics often used to judge the capability of a single solution; for example, a generalised detection rate for anti-malware solutions.

Expanding on the knowledge gained from over 2 decades of experience in application testing, West Coast Labs have created a series of testing criteria for a variety of categories. Following the previous example, that of an anti-malware solution, this means examining a product's performance against malware categories, threat level posed by the malware, and regional trend data.
